Now concerning how and when all this will happen, dear brothers and sisters, we don’t really need to write you. For you know quite well that the day of the Lord’s return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. When
people are saying, “Everything is peaceful and secure,” then disaster
will fall on them as suddenly as a pregnant woman’s labor pains begin.
And there will be no escape.
But
you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters,
and you won’t be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief. For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night. So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. Night is the time when people sleep and drinkers get drunk. But
let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of
faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our
salvation.
For God chose to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us. Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him forever. So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.

The Sermon On the Mount And the Lord's Prayer
One day as he saw the crowds gathering, Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down. His disciples gathered around him, and he began to teach them.
The Beatitudes
“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,a
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
God blesses those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
God blesses those who are humble,
for they will inherit the whole earth.
God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice,b
for they will be satisfied.
God blesses those who are merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
for they will see God.
God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God.
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
“God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about youc and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. Be
happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven.
And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.
Teaching about Salt and Light
“You
are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its
flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled
underfoot as worthless.
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No
one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is
placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
“When
you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They
think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again
and again.
8Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! Pray like this:
Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us today the food we need,aand forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation,bbut rescue us from the evil one.c“If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Name Above All Names
Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute. When the demon left, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowd was amazed. But some of them said, “By Beelzebul, the prince of demons, he is driving out demons.” Others tested him by asking for a sign from heaven.
Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: “Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall. If
Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand? I say this
because you claim that I drive out demons by Beelzebul. Now if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your followers drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
“When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe. But
when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the
armor in which the man trusted and divides up his plunder.
“Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.
“When
an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places
seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the
house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. Then
it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they
go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse
than the first.”
Say What You Need To Say
What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you? You
want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are
jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage
war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because
you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.
You adulterers!a
Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of
God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make
yourself an enemy of God. What do you think the Scriptures mean when they say that the spirit God has placed within us is filled with envy?b But he gives us even more grace to stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say,

Lazarus Come Forth
A man named Lazarus was sick. He lived in Bethany with his sisters, Mary and Martha. This is the Mary who later poured the expensive perfume on the Lord’s feet and wiped them with her hair.a Her brother, Lazarus, was sick. So the two sisters sent a message to Jesus telling him, “Lord, your dear friend is very sick.”
But when Jesus heard about it he said, “Lazarus’s
sickness will not end in death. No, it happened for the glory of God so
that the Son of God will receive glory from this.” So although Jesus loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus, he stayed where he was for the next two days. Finally, he said to his disciples, “Let’s go back to Judea.”
But his disciples objected. “Rabbi,” they said, “only a few days ago the people in Judea were trying to stone you. Are you going there again?”
Jesus replied, “There
are twelve hours of daylight every day. During the day people can walk
safely. They can see because they have the light of this world. But at night there is danger of stumbling because they have no light.” Then he said, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but now I will go and wake him up.”
The disciples said, “Lord, if he is sleeping, he will soon get better!” They thought Jesus meant Lazarus was simply sleeping, but Jesus meant Lazarus had died.
So he told them plainly, “Lazarus is dead. And for your sakes, I’m glad I wasn’t there, for now you will really believe. Come, let’s go see him.”
Thomas, nicknamed the Twin,c said to his fellow disciples, “Let’s go, too—and die with Jesus.”
When Jesus arrived at Bethany, he was told that Lazarus had already been in his grave for four days. Bethany was only a few miles down the road from Jerusalem, and many of the people had come to console Martha and Mary in their loss. When Martha got word that Jesus was coming, she went to meet him. But Mary stayed in the house. Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that God will give you whatever you ask.”
Jesus told her, “Your brother will rise again.”
“Yes,” Martha said, “he will rise when everyone else rises, at the last day.”
Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life.e Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?”
“Yes,
Lord,” she told him. “I have always believed you are the Messiah, the
Son of God, the one who has come into the world from God.” Then she returned to Mary. She called Mary aside from the mourners and told her, “The Teacher is here and wants to see you.” So Mary immediately went to him.
Jesus had stayed outside the village, at the place where Martha met him. When
the people who were at the house consoling Mary saw her leave so
hastily, they assumed she was going to Lazarus’s grave to weep. So they
followed her there. When
Mary arrived and saw Jesus, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if
only you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
When Jesus saw her weeping and saw the other people wailing with her, a deep anger welled up within him,f and he was deeply troubled. “Where have you put him?” he asked them.
They told him, “Lord, come and see.” Then Jesus wept. The people who were standing nearby said, “See how much he loved him!” But some said, “This man healed a blind man. Couldn’t he have kept Lazarus from dying?”
Jesus was still angry as he arrived at the tomb, a cave with a stone rolled across its entrance. “Roll the stone aside,” Jesus told them.
But Martha, the dead man’s sister, protested, “Lord, he has been dead for four days. The smell will be terrible.”
Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?” So they rolled the stone aside. Then Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, thank you for hearing me. You
always hear me, but I said it out loud for the sake of all these people
standing here, so that they will believe you sent me.” Then Jesus shouted, “Lazarus, come out!” And the dead man came out, his hands and feet bound in graveclothes, his face wrapped in a headcloth. Jesus told them, “Unwrap him and let him go!”
Forgiveness Awaits You
The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans.b She said to Jesus, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?”
Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”
“But sir, you don’t have a rope or a bucket,” she said, “and this well is very deep. Where would you get this living water? And
besides, do you think you’re greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave
us this well? How can you offer better water than he and his sons and
his animals enjoyed?”
Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But
those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It
becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”
“Please,
sir,” the woman said, “give me this water! Then I’ll never be thirsty
again, and I won’t have to come here to get water.”
“Go and get your husband,” Jesus told her.
“I don’t have a husband,” the woman replied.
Jesus said, “You’re right! You don’t have a husband— for you have had five husbands, and you aren’t even married to the man you’re living with now. You certainly spoke the truth!”
“Sir,” the woman said, “you must be a prophet. So
tell me, why is it that you Jews insist that Jerusalem is the only
place of worship, while we Samaritans claim it is here at Mount Gerizim,c where our ancestors worshiped?”
Jesus replied, “Believe
me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter
whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem. You
Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews
know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews. But
the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will
worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for
those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
The woman said, “I know the Messiah is coming—the one who is called Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”
Just
then his disciples came back. They were shocked to find him talking to a
woman, but none of them had the nerve to ask, “What do you want with
her?” or “Why are you talking to her?” The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone, “Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could he possibly be the Messiah?” So the people came streaming from the village to see him.
Meanwhile, the disciples were urging Jesus, “Rabbi, eat something.”
But Jesus replied, “I have a kind of food you know nothing about.”
“Did someone bring him food while we were gone?” the disciples asked each other.
Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work. You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripee for harvest. The
harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people
brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the
harvester alike! You know the saying, ‘One plants and another harvests.’ And it’s true. I sent you to harvest where you didn’t plant; others had already done the work, and now you will get to gather the harvest. www.hisservent.com
The Fathers Waiting
“A
few days later this younger son packed all his belongings and moved to a
distant land, and there he wasted all his money in wild living. About the time his money ran out, a great famine swept over the land, and he began to starve. He persuaded a local farmer to hire him, and the man sent him into his fields to feed the pigs. The young man became so hungry that even the pods he was feeding the pigs looked good to him. But no one gave him anything.
“When
he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the
hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.”’
“So
he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off,
his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to
his son, embraced him, and kissed him. His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son.b’
“But
his father said to the servants, ‘Quick! Bring the finest robe in the
house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his
feet. And kill the calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast, for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost, but now he is found.’ So the party began.
“Meanwhile, the older son was in the fields working. When he returned home, he heard music and dancing in the house, and he asked one of the servants what was going on. ‘Your
brother is back,’ he was told, ‘and your father has killed the fattened
calf. We are celebrating because of his safe return.’
“The older brother was angry and wouldn’t go in. His father came out and begged him, but
he replied, ‘All these years I’ve slaved for you and never once refused
to do a single thing you told me to. And in all that time you never
gave me even one young goat for a feast with my friends. Yet when this son of yours comes back after squandering your money on prostitutes, you celebrate by killing the fattened calf!’
“His father said to him, ‘Look, dear son, you have always stayed by me, and everything I have is yours. We had to celebrate this happy day. For your brother was dead and has come back to life! He was lost, but now he is found!’”
Forgiveness Flows From The Throne
Jesus returned to the Mount of Olives, but early the next morning he was back again at the Temple. A crowd soon gathered, and he sat down and taught them. As
he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees
brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. They put her
in front of the crowd.
“Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?”
They
were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against
him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust.
When
the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with
the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with
the woman. Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?”
“No, Lord,” she said.
And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.”
Evolution Vs. GOD

Clearly, atheism
is for intellectuals.
But one moment.
Abraham Lincoln
wasn't an atheist.
He said,
"I know that the Lord
is always on
the side of the right.
But it's my constant anxiety and
prayer that I and this nation
should be
on the Lord's side."
Neither was Carl Sagan.
He clearly stated,
"I am an agnostic."
Mark Twain hated religion, but
he certainly wasn't an atheist,
saying, "None of us
can be as great as God,
but any of us
can be as good."
Benjamin Franklin said,
"God governs
in the affairs of men."
You'll find Thomas Edison
listed on Celebrity Atheists,
on Positive Atheism,
and other atheist websites,
but he wasn't an atheist.
He said, "There is a great
directing head of people
and things--
a Supreme Being
who looks after the destinies
of the world."
Thomas Jefferson said,
"Say nothing of my religion.
It is known to myself
and my God alone."
Albert Einstein rejected
the Bible as the Word of God,
and that God
being personal was childlike.

who say there is no God.
But what really makes me
angry is that they quote me
to support such views."
He categorically said,
"I am not an atheist,"
and when referring to those
who deny the Creator,

there is only one who was
an atheist: Ernest Hemingway.
